How Do I Add An Affiliate Banner Ad To My Blog

No blogger initiated advertising, retailing or reselling the work created or services provided by anyone other than yourself is allowed. E-commerce transactions via shopping carts and the like cannot be conducted on blogs.
The only advertising exceptions are for high traffic blogs that qualify for and are accepted into the Ad Control program, and for extremely high traffic blogs that qualify and are accepted into the paid VIP hosting program.
Affiliate marketing blogs: Blogs with the primary purpose of driving traffic to affiliate programs and get-rich-quick schemes (Make six figures from home!!?, 20 easy steps to top profits!!?, etc). This includes multi-level marketing (MLM) blogs and pyramid schemes. To be clear, people writing their own original book, movie or game reviews and linking them to Amazon, or people linking to their own products on Etsy do NOT fall into this category. -of-blogs/

If you do require an ecommerce site, advertising and/or affiliate links on your blog, you can hire a web host and get a free software install from Read the information at the link below to learn about the differences between free hosted blogs and software installs for self hosting. -vs-org/
I've read through the support documents included so far. I'm a little unsure about one thing.
If I write a kindle book based on my blog - would affiliate marketing arbitrage a link to Amazon be a violation of the service?
If I interview someone who has written a book, would a link in their biography to the book they've written (say on Amazon or the publishers site) be a violation?
Yes indeed I do agree with justjennifer. Volunteerd so not interpret ppolicy re:specific blogs, what Staff have said and what I say every time I post on this subject is:.

I really do think wordpress is a great site and I've genuinely been annoyed by the attitude some posters have taken to them when the service has been down either to DDOS attacks or internal problems.
I do however think some of the documentation on the support forum could be put together better. The advertising documentation currently has 1472 people who don't think it's helpful.
The types of blog article I'm really struggling with that. I don't get how a business can have a blog that doesn't include commercial links.
I also don't think linking to the forum helps at all. Some of the posters saying what is and isn't acceptable are just listed as members, not support staff or happiness engineers. So how are you supposed to know what they're saying is the official position.
I hope you understand that we Volunteers do the very best that we can. :) We Volunteers only answer questions. Most of us are multitasking from work ( am self-employed) so having to respond to those who have complaints about the way things work which are beyond our control is really a time waster for us and it provides no satisfaction for members or solutions either. :(
If you want Staff to take note of your impressions and your suggestions then you must make them directly to Staff because they only monitor these threads. If you have any further comments to make please contact Staff directly.
I understand the people who post on this forum are volunteers not actually staff from WP.
My comments were not aimed at anyone individual who has been kind enough to offer their help, nor are they intended to be disrespectful to anyone, or take up anyone's time unnecessarily.
I voiced my opinion to see if anyone was in agreement with me. The objective being if there people who were in agreement with me we could the staff to this thread to prove that I wasn't the only member who had the same issue.
